As part of the France-Brazil Season, the Jewish Museum of Paris (mahJ) and the Jewish Museum of São Paulo (MUJ) are organizing an afternoon dedicated to the history of Jews in the Amazon, featuring a lecture by Ilana Feldman and a screening of the documentary Jews in the Amazon by Diego Lajst, followed by a conversation with the director.

The immigration of Moroccan Jews to northern Brazil is the subject of an in-depth research project developed by the Jewish Museum of São Paulo. Bringing together over 220 items—including artworks, videos, historical documents, and photographs. Curated by Aldrin Moura de Figueiredo, Ilana Feldman, Mariana Lorenzi, and Renato Athias, with curatorial assistance by Débora Setton, the exhibition was divided into 13 thematic sections, it explores topics such as river navigation, trade networks, women’s roles, environmental activism, religious rituals, and the cultural intersections between Jewish, Moroccan, and Amazonian traditions.
